First Broad Gauge Diesel Engine Rolled From Patharkhola to Debalong Station of Lumding-Silchar GC Project

Haflong, November 7, 2014 : 6.11.2014 was a historic day for the people of Dima Hasao District of Assam and the people of Cachar district when a Broad Gauge diesel engine was rolled on a trial basis on the soil of Dima Hasao district from Patharkhola to Debalong, a distance of 26 kms, reports D.C. Borah Sr.PRO/Con, N.F.Railway, Maligaon today in e-press release.


According to Borah, at 9.25 hrs on 6.11.2014, the engine left Patharkhola  and moved over the newly constructed broad gauge track crossing stations Mandardisa and Hatikhali to reach Debalong at about 12.45 hrs. After the trial run the engine returned & reached Patharkhola at 15.35 Hrs.

Mr. Borah, in the release fuether stated that apart from the above, as part of the Mega Block works MG/BG cut & connect activity at 90 locations has been completed out of 102 locations and 8 lac cum of earthwork has since been done during mega block out of 12 lac cum. 
Track linking of BG line is also progressing satisfactorily at various locations of Lumding-Silchar route and it is hopeful to complete the entire project work within the targeted time i.e., 31.03.2015
Shri R.P.Jinger, Chief Engineer/Con-1, N.F.Railway and other Sr. Officials were present in the trial run on the newly converted section, informed Borah.
